One More File has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no cookies. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to opt out of. This page explains the small print behind that, including the one place where data about you does exist.

What the site stores on your device

When you download a case or solve one, that fact is written to your browser's local storage under the key omf.progress.v1. It records which cases you have taken and which you have closed, and nothing else — no answers you typed, no timings, no identifiers.

It stays in your browser. It is not sent anywhere, and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser's site data removes it, and so does the Clear saved progress button in the site's footer.

Why there is no cookie banner

The site sets no cookies at all. Local storage is used only to remember your own progress on your own device, which is a functional purpose and does not require consent. A banner asking permission to do nothing would be theatre.

Your answers are checked in your browser

When you submit a code, it is hashed locally and compared against a hash already in the page. What you type never leaves your device — not when it is right, and not when it is wrong.

The exception: hosting logs

The site is hosted on Netlify, and like any web host Netlify records requests made to it. Those records include your IP address, the time, the page or file requested, and your browser's user agent. This happens as part of serving the site and is outside our control.

We do not use those logs to build any picture of visitors, and there is no analytics product sitting on top of them. But it would be wrong to claim nothing anywhere records your visit, so: this does. Netlify's own privacy policy covers what they do with it.

If you email us

Mail sent to nook.crew.studio@gmail.com arrives in a Gmail inbox and is used to reply to you. You are not added to any list, because there is no list.

Links that leave the site

The footer links to Ko-fi and to Nook Crew. Those are separate services with their own privacy policies, and this one stops at the edge of this site.

Asking what we hold

You are welcome to ask, though the answer for almost everyone is nothing: your progress is on your own device, and unless you have emailed us there is no record of you here beyond the hosting logs described above. Write to nook.crew.studio@gmail.com.
